Amid the incredible demonstrations that keep happening in the 3,084 of 3,141 counties of the USA, the media, the political class and those that claim to be observers of objective reality continue to evince utter confusion as they sit surrounded by the detritus of their Bastille.
Senator Luther Strange on his loss to Roy Moore last night, despite GOPe and President Trump’s support, and personal appearance,
“We’re dealing with a political environment that I’ve never had any experience with”
No, you haven’t.
As if this needs a coda, here is the Wall Street Journal
Mr. Trump’s inability to deliver victory to Mr. Strange suggests he won’t be able to reliably harness the antiestablishment political movement that he unleashed within the GOP and rode to the White House in the 2016 campaign.
The movement is far larger than Trump. Trump was only the personification of this movement in 2016. The public has recognized that Corporate, Chamber of Commerce Republicans, and Wall Street Democrats are the same party, and serve the same constituency, and it’s NOT THEM.
US Steel served notice of the birth of this movement in 1979 (J Carter) when they made plain they would NOT be able to compete against Japanese GOVT-INDUSTRY export techniques (dumping/subsidies) with steel (which, of course was just ONE area they executed their national export plans)
Automation has played a part in this, but make no mistake, the performance of (especially the) German, Japanese, Chinese, Maylasian, etc economies and unemployment there in the manufacturing sector PER CAPITA by worker makes objectively clear, it is the export of challenging and good jobs overseas that is the major component driving the forces causing peaceful rebellion here. Mexican workers for Ford avg $8/hour. US workers, $58. PHYSICS ENTERS.
The question is how all this will resolve.
We can have massive change within BOTH parties.
We can have 3 or 4 parties.
We can see the movement die, and with it, watch declining voting %’s (and what that REALLY means, grow) as the entrenched executive depts, legislative staffs and paraphernalia, and hangers on, such as media, lobbyists, and huge multinational corporations grind away at the determination of an angry public as they try to pay their bills every month.
We can have revolts break out. In both Rural areas as disgust breaks over the top of restraint, and urban areas as Baltimore after Baltimore occur for all sorts of reasons.
There is no question that the McConnells, Ryans, Schumers, and Pelosi are confused utterly. Celebration should occur over the retirements we see like Bob Corker. Let’s have MORE. It’s Darwin.
Things will either change peacefully or not, OR we enter permanent dispirited decline as more and more disadvantaged people of all colors, races and religions chase fewer and fewer federal resources, doled out by a few concerned only with remaining among those who dole out those resources.
By the way, Snopes rather revealed themselves with that map above, by claiming it is misleading.
The map is the map. By and large the majority in urban areas which are few but populous voted D, and rural areas, which is the vast proportion of the nation, voted for Trump. Snopes just DOESN’T LIKE THE MAP. Sunlight hits.
What tipped the election was the realization that Trump had recognized the MAIN PROBLEM
Sooner or later, THAT hits everyone
And working at Dunkin and Walmart, and BJ’s for 45 hours a week, total does not equal 40 hours a week making motherboards for Gateway, or building Oldsmobiles when you don’t even show up as unemployed.
